Get Well Soon DIDONG!

As part of my daily dos aside from sending SMS, I call my mum this morning just wanna talk supposedly. However, she just told me that they are already in the hospital, Davao Doctors Hospital because Didong was readmitted early this morning after suffering from very high fever. He's sick again. And the worst thing, he will be celebrating his 3rd birthday tomorrow. And it's really sad that he might have it in the hospital. If God would allow, I would be glad if He'll just get me sick than Didong. He's so helpless. He's still a kid.

I do not know what to do now. I am very far from them. And seemed so helpless I am now. Crying? Smiley  Couldn't make things well, perhaps getting worse.

For this week's MM, I wanna have here a rockin' song that could somehow vanish my alonesome feeling here. I won't assure you that you would love this song, but I, myself, love this.

Happy week ahead!

Happy Thanks Giving!

Though I am not a US resident nor an American citizen, I am still celebrating THANKS GIVING DAY. It's not the usual turkey preparation, but, in my own little way I am giving thanks to HIM everything what I have gone through and what I am having.

These are just some to things I am VERY THANKFUL OF:
  • I just celebrated my birthday will love, generally good health and happiness. Though I had a lil strange feeling that day - a sick birthday, that was, but still, I am very fine then and had a birthday bash full of surprises.
  • I have a good medical academic standing. Hopefully this will improve more.
  • Thankful enough that my mum and dad are just very fine now healthly.
  • After being admitted for 4 days in the hospital, Didong is now at home and feelin' great.
  • I had my granny also discharged at the hospital already after suffering from mild stroke just on Saturday.
  • My brother and sisters, my whole family, are ok now. I mean, they got no worries to think of.
  • I have my friends, offline and online, supporting me and loving me.
  • And most of all, thanking HIM for giving me more days of savoring every air that I breathe!
You too can give thanks and celebrate THANKS GIVING DAY in your own way!

Throw 'em out!

Yesterday, the shop which made the personalized mug for my triple medical blogthing game giveaway contacted me telling that the mugs are ready to be delivered at home. I opted to visit them in their office to personally talk to the staffs if I got some things to be changed.

And yes, I wasn't mistaken. There really some stuffs that I wanted them to changed.

First is that, I ordered MAGIC MUG. It's a mug that only when you pour then hot fluid or water the design would be seen. However, only yesterday that they've told me that they didn't able to make what I wanted to because of undersupplies since it's St. Catherine festive here and they got a lot of clients then. I told them that it's more than two weeks already that I had this for you. And what they have told me? They only said, maam, those clients were months ahead of you. Smileys I didn't talk further then.

Second, since I got my PMD template of red hue, somewhat pink, and I wanted a colored pink mug, as what I told them also before. But, as I've seen the mugs, they were all colored yellow. I even told them before that I want either red or pink. But, as much as possible red. Pink would just be an alternative. I didn't even mention to them any color especially yellow.

Seeing the finished mugs, I was thinking of throwing them all to them. LOL! Smileys Off course, I didn't. I was still glad, staring to the mugs with a smile thinking of how I made my celebrations awesome. Smileys

Sick Birthday!

This morning, I went to school since we were scheduled to practice swimming, basketball, softball and table tennis. It's holiday today and tomorrow here in Dumaguete City Smileys because of St. Catherine Fest so we could just play all day as we could.

However, after taking a bath, I felt some strange feeling in my tummy. I never think bout it as worst thing then. So I still changed clothes, packed things and went out. Up into being excited of having no class, bumped into my surprise the heavy rain outside. Think of a very geared up to play basketball or softball lassy being damn wet. Smileys

But still, I insisted to go to school. Booom! The small thing tummy crumbling earlier became intense that I feel nauseated and even I wanna vomit. Smileys

I got no choice then but to went home Smileys and just ate large french fries and choco sundae from Jollibee.

Khat Drug: An Abbused Drug

The newly reported herbal plant being abbused now a days is the Khat Drug.

Khat (Catha edulis) is a flowering shrub native to northeast Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. It has stimulatory effects, which are similar to but less intense than those caused by abusing cocaine or methamphetamine. Smileys

Khat typically is ingested by chewing the leaves—as is done with loose tobacco. Dried khat leaves can be brewed in tea or cooked and added to food. After ingesting khat, the user experiences an immediate increase in blood pressure and heart rate. The effects of the drug generally begin to subside between 90 minutes and 3 hours after ingestion; however, they can last up to 24 hours. Smileys

The use of khat is accepted within the Somali, Ethiopian, and Yemeni cultures, and in the United States khat use is most prevalent among immigrants from those countries. Abuse levels are highest in cities with sizable populations of immigrants from Somalia, Ethiopia, and Yemen, including Boston, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Nashville, New York, and Washington, D.C. In addition, there is evidence to suggest that some nonimmigrants in these areas have begun abusing the drug.

Didong has been admitted..

Last Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, my mum called me that she couldn't come here in Dumaguete City, for my birthday next week and to attend a 3-day conference as well, which was supposedly last Thursday was her flight because Didong, my nephew, was sick. Smileys They, my mum and dad and elder sister (Didong's mum) were just thinking of a very common colds and flu. However, when they had him checked by the medical practitioner, Didong was advised to be admitted after diagnosed of having bronchopneumonia.

Bronchopneumonia is actually a pneumonia in bronchos. There is an acute inflammation of the bronchial tube due to infection caused by bacteria. Actually, Didong is asthmatic. When one is asthmatic, we couldn't able to disregard the secondary effects leading to bronchopneumonia especially for pediatric patients.

**these photos were taken last June 2008.

We're just hoping Didong could get back home as early as now so before his birthday celebration. Smileys

Best Christmas Gift: School Keepsake Book

It's already mid-November, and everybody could smell now the spirit of Christmas - holidays, indeed. sengihnampakgigi A lot of parties, gatherings and foodums will be expected to have.

However, I couldn't think, or say, take it going home without even bringing something for my goddaughters and godsons. sedih I really do not know what to give to them since I haven't seen them for more than 5 months already. I only had a chance to see Clark, one of them. The rest? Haven't seen them already. And I really can't think how they had grown up now.

I was thinking of giving them pairs of cartoon-printed paired suits, maybe a shorts and a sleeveless shirt or any. However, every time I check some goodies for babies, I seemed clueless garupale and speechless garupale as the sales ladies asked me how tall and how big the kids or babies that would be wearing those stuffs. ketukmeje And as I tried to contact their mum, they just said, adacall they already grown up 'gay, maybe you wouldn't recognize them if you have seen them this December.

Oh no!!! hah

Am I that wide-thinker and imaginative enough to thinker broadly as I could on how babies would grow? garupale Much more, I am not a magician that if I'll purchase one, then if that suits would not fit to them, I could easily resize those. bising

Since, I got no other options to think of, I consulted my mum. I know mums know best, that's why. peluk She just told me then that I could choose from penny laine baby book or school keepsake book. Mum made these two options for me since she had seen some of my godchildren growing which I miss. So, as she said, for me to recap those missed moments, I could give their mums with these books and let them file great moments with their kids.

One more thing, my single sister has shared also that she just gave a nap mat to her godson last October, since it was his first birthday.

And as I checked all those mentioned stuffs, I prefer school keepsake book for Ralph. A nap mat for Clark and a penny laine baby book for Aliyah. love

Weeeeeeeeeeh! Ninang Gagay will be coming home!!! tepuktangan

Dr. Hadi Al-Jassim in Liverpool, England tested the shot on 400 patients with successful results. He said most patients found the shot lasted about one year, but it can be given up to three times each year.

Other treatments for snoring include improved eating habits, avoiding medications that cause drowsiness before bed, establish regular sleeping patterns, sleeping on your side or tilting the head of your bed up by about four inches.

Brian Grant on Parkinson's Disease

Brian Wade Grant, one of my fave NBA player has been diagnosed having Parkinson's Disease (PD). It is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that often impairs the sufferer's motor skills, speech, and other functions.

Moreover, Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a considered a MOTOR SYSTEM DISORDER characterized by tremor, or trembling in hands, arms, legs, jaw, and face; rigidity, or stiffness of the limbs and trunk; bradykinesia, or slowness of movement; and postural instability, or impaired balance and coordination.

What's worst with PD today is that it has no cure discovered yet. However, medical practitioners usually just give medication for relief of PD symptoms.

Shopping before Classes start!

I had my enrollment, confirmation and registration done last Friday for the 2nd semester of the 1st year in medical school. During my enrollment, I probably left somewhere my pair of eyeglasses. I just noticed it when I got home. soal

What I did yesterday was that I didn't told my mum 'bout it, I just preferred to shop online some goody eyeglasses and I found new arrivals of eyeglasses that are very pocket-friendly - $8 Prescription Zenni Glasses. Much more I liked with the lost of my eyeglasses was that holidays are coming and a new hippy looks must I be. nerdWell, I don't need to worry more nor for holidays since I already have my holiday fun eyeglasses with me.

*what do you think of this frames for me? soal

Trick or Treat Times

How many times have you had a trick or treat?

In my case, maybe, I only had 2 or 3, I guess. Trick or treat never been a good experience to me! I remember the last time I celebrated halloween with a trick or treat event was like a nightmare to me. A burning candle fell into my feet. That's why I hate having trick or treat! It really hurt my feet. It didn't show scar though, but the trauma of a li'l kiddy, I was still 7 years old I guess, couldn't be forgotten.

That's why I hate having trick or treat during halloween events.

Pregnancy Calendar: Week 25 - Week 30

Week 25 - Baby weighs 1 pound 9 ounces (709 grams). The bones are continuing their ossification process, meaning that they are becoming harder.

Week 26 - Veins are visible through the baby's skin, although it is quickly changing from transparent to opaque. The baby now can hear. Although it is assumed that the uterus is a quiet place, the baby has been surrounded by noise for a long time. Things like the heartbeat, digestion, and other body functions are heard by the baby as well as external noises.

Week 27 - The baby's skin is very wrinkled from floating in water. This will stay this way until a few weeks after birth as your newborn fills out into a baby. Although take heart in the fact that your baby's looks are assuming the looks that they will have at birth. Baby has also hit the 2 pound mark (900 grams).

Week 28 - This is the third trimester. The baby's eye lashes are developing, as subcutaneous fat is deposited. If the baby is aboy, his testes will probably begin descending. Your baby is about 13.8 inches long (35 cms) and weighs about 2 pounds 4 ounces (1 kilogram).

Week 29 - The baby is beginning to regulate his own temperature and the bone marrow is completely in charge of production of the red blood cells. The baby is even urinating about a half liter of urine into the amniotic fluid everyday.

Week 30 - Maintain a good posture to decrease the strain of the body as the gravity continues to change. Furthermore, the mother may be able to distinguish sleep and wake cycles in your baby. Although it usually seems as if the baby wants to sleep while you are awake and vice versa at night.

Pregnancy Calendar: Week 19 - Week 24

Week 19 -This is an impressive week for growth of the baby. The baby will increase in weight to 8 ounces (227 grams). If you are having a girl, her ovaries now contain primitive egg cells. Lanugo appears all over the baby's body. This fine hair will remain until birth draws nearer. Sometimes you can still see some on the baby's face and ears after birth.

Week 20 - The belly button may pop out and stay that way as your uterus presses upwards. Some people will have trouble breathing as their lungs become cramped. This will usually continue until the baby "drops." In a first pregnancy this can occur as early as 4-6 weeks before your birth or not until labor as with subsequent pregnancies. Once the baby "drops." You will have to urinate more frequently. Remembering to do your pelvic tilts prior to laying down will hopefully allow you a few more minutes before the next bathroom break.

Week 21 -The baby can still move all over in the amniotic fluid. Towards the end of this trimester the baby will begin to settle, usually in a head down position (Although some babies do not turn head down until late in the last trimester.). About 3-4% of babies will remain in a breech position at term. Your baby weighs just under a pound (13 ounces or 369 grams).

Week 22 - You are still feeling pretty good and active in this second trimester. If you are still having aches and pains or feel like you are slowing down you may want to look into some different remedies for the problems you're experiencing..

Week 23 - During your appointments your practitioner may palpate your abdomen. This process is a way of feeling the position of the baby. A tape measure will also be used to measure your fundal height. This is the top of your uterus and is a good indicator of the continued growth of your baby. Some people will worry if they measure a bit "too big" or "too small." However, it is completely normal to have slight variations at this point. Be sure to ask your practitioner if you are worried.

Week 24 - Your fundus (top of the uterus) reaches just above your navel. You are now aware of your baby's movements and may even be able to tell the sleep/wake cycles of your little one. It is important to recognize the signs of premature labor. Premature labor is actually more common in the summer months, thought to be caused by dehydration in some women, so continue drinking lots of water.

Pregnancy Calendar: Week 13 - 18

Week 13 - This is your second trimester. This is usually the time when mothers feel their best. They are "over" the joys of early pregnancy and have more energy. They are also beginning to feel pregnant.

Week 14 - The hormonal changes in the body are becoming apparent. Many are in the form of skin changes. These changes can alter how you use make up in pregnancy. You may have also developed a dark line down the middle of your abdomen to your pubic bone called a linea negra. The areola (dark nipple portion of your breasts) may have darkened and gotten larger as well. Your uterus is now the size of a grapefruit.

Week 15 - The heart is increasing its output to supply the baby with oxygen. The enlarged heart is pumping about 20% more blood than prepregnancy. This volume will actually increase throughout your pregnancy for an ending increased heart output of 30-50%. If the clothes are getting tight, do not try to cram yourself into clothes try maternity clothes. The maternal blood screening for neural tube defects, often called the Alpha-fetoprotein Test (AFP) (Quad or Triple Screen) may be offered at this point. It is a screening that is most accurate during the 15 - 17th weeks of gestation.

Week 16 - The woman may begin to feel the baby move around this point. This is more likely to happen now if the preagnant is a multipara (someone who has had a previous child) or if the pregnant is very thin. Generally, she will feel the baby move about one month earlier than did in a previous pregnancy, mainly because she know what she is feeling. It is not uncommon for first time mothers to not recognize fetal movements until 22-24 weeks. These first movements are called "quickening." They can also be used in helping to determine your due date.

Week 17 - The uterus is now about halfway between your pubic bone and navel. The secretions all over the body may increase, due to the increased blood volume. So if you are sweating more, have nasal congestion, or are suffering from increased vaginal discharge this is nothing to worry about and will go away after the birth of the baby.

Week 18 - Sleeping may be increasingly difficult now, as the body grows. This is a healthy tip, try propping yourself with pillows to help you find a more comfortable sleeping position. You might also try doing pelvic tilts before bed, and always urinate before laying down.

Pregnancy Calendar: Week 7 - Week 12

Week 7 - Your face may break out due to the changes in hormones. So even though you may feel like a teenager again, you are not alone.

Week 8 - This is the best time to have your first visit to medical practitioner.

Week 9 - You may find yourself with a stuffy nose. Nasal congestion and nose bleeds are fairly common during pregnancy. Try using a vaporizer or humidifier to help lessen the symptoms. You continue to feel tired, nauseated, and possibly dizzy and you might even see fainting spells.

Week 10 - You are still tired, and nauseated, hang on only a few more weeks for most of you. Your abdomen may begin to pooch out, but it will be more from bowel distension than the uterus. Your waistline is slowly disappearing! Remember to measure your waist and belly now.

Week 11 - This is the first obvious gain weight you would experience at about 1-2 lbs. a month in the first trimester. Some women will actually lose weight and be perfectly fine, particularly if they were ill. Some will gain no weight whatsoever. While yet others will gain 10+ pounds. The key is a healthy diet.

Week 12 - You may actually start feeling better from your extreme tiredness and nausea this week. Others will hang on to it for awhile longer. Your abdomen may start expanding, especially if this is not your first pregnancy.

Pregnancy Calendar: Week 1 - Week 6

As promised to ate elai, I wanted to share here some of my little knowledge regarding pregnancy.

Week 1 - Take a prenatal vitamin, with 0.4 mg of folic acid (to help prevent neural tube defects) is a good idea. Avoid doing any form of chemical birth control, and avoiding other chemicals such as: alcohol, tobacco (even second hand smoke), x-rays, over the counter medications, and even discussing the prescription medications you are currently taking.

Week 2 - The pregnant's uterine lining is thickening, and ovulation is getting ready to occur. Some women will actually feel ovulation, with a one sided pain called mittleschmerz (literally meaning middle pain). Better to know your family's medical history to avoid further birth complications and learn more preconceptional health.

Week 3 - You have ovulated and have now been exposed to sperm! When the egg implants some women have a tiny bit of spotting called implantation bleeding, where the egg burrows into the uterine lining, shedding a bit. This is nothing to worry about. Your body also releases an immunosuppressant protein called Early Pregnancy Factor (EPF) to prevent your body from seeing the baby as an invader.

Week 4 - Try PT (pregnancy test). Most probably, the PT using urine will be positive now. UPT measures the amounts of the pregnancy hormone in urine. The pregnant will feel tired, urinate more frequently, experience mood swings, and possibly have tender or swollen breasts.

Week 5 - Pregnants may even feel cramping or a full feeling in uterus. Some women may also get headaches from a rise in hormones.

Week 6 - Your nausea may actually get worse this week as your hormone levels rise. Remember it's called morning sickness, but it can strike at any point of the day. Your breasts may tingle, feel heavy, the areola (dark nipple portion) may become darker.
